Privacy

What we collect

We ask you for nothing. There are no accounts, no signup forms and no email fields anywhere on the site. We never ask for your name except when you type one onto your own typing certificate, and that name is rendered on your device and never sent to us.

Two things on the site do involve someone else, and both have their own section below. Google Analytics counts visits on every page, and the contact page carries a form. Neither of them sees a single character of what you type into the test: that is the line this site does not cross, and the rest of this page explains exactly where it sits.

Where your results live

Your test results, personal bests, per-key statistics, settings, and lesson progress are stored in your browser's localStorage, on your device. They are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. This has two practical consequences:

You are in full control of this data. Visit your typing stats to review it, export it as a file, or delete all of it in one click.

The contact form

The contact page embeds a form hosted by Google Forms. It is the only third-party embed on the site and the only place where anything you type is transmitted anywhere.

Two things follow from that, and both are worth knowing before you use it. Anything you submit goes to Google first and reaches us through their service, so it is handled under Google's privacy policy as well as ours. And loading the form means loading content from Google's servers, which lets Google see that request and may involve their cookies, exactly as if you had opened the form directly.

If you would rather not involve a third party, the contact page also lists a plain email address that reaches the same person with nobody in between. Nothing about the typing test itself changes either way: your results still never leave your browser.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages people actually use. It runs on every page, it sets cookies, and it tells us things like which country a visit came from, roughly how long it lasted, and which page led to which.

What it does not see is anything you type. Your test text, your WPM, your accuracy, your per-key statistics and your lesson progress are computed and stored in your browser and are never sent to Google or to us. Analytics measures pages, not performance: we can see that a thousand people opened the 1 minute test, and we cannot see what any one of them scored.

Google Analytics 4 does not record full IP addresses. If you would rather not be counted at all, any content blocker or the browser's own tracking protection will stop it, and the site works exactly the same with it blocked. Trackers and ads

There are no advertising trackers on this site and no ads on the test surface. We do not run ad networks and we do not sell data to anyone. Aside from Google Analytics and the contact form described above, no page loads anything from a third party.

Server logs

Like almost every website, the hosting provider that serves these pages may keep standard web-server access logs (such as the IP address and page requested) for security and capacity purposes. These logs are ordinary infrastructure records, not something we use to profile visitors, and they contain none of your typing results.

Changes
