Cyrillic script
You need a Cyrillic layout installed. The test reads whatever your layout sends.
Greek script
Needs a Greek layout. Greek also writes its question mark as a semicolon.
Indic scripts
Devanagari and the South Indian scripts, in Unicode. Works with InScript or Google Input Tools.
Right to left
The test runs right to left and the caret sits on the right of each word.
How the language support works
Every language is a word list: a few hundred of the most frequent words in that language, stored as plain text. When you open a language page the test fetches that one list and generates its stream from it, picking at random and never repeating a word back to back. Nothing is translated on the fly, and no other language is downloaded, so choosing Turkish does not make you wait on a pile of files you will never read.
Punctuation and numbers stay off unless you turn them on in the control bar. When punctuation is on, the text follows the conventions of the language you are typing rather than English ones: Spanish opens a question with an inverted mark and closes it with the matching pair, and the apostrophe possessive is only ever added in English, where it belongs.
Scoring does not change with the language
Speed is correct characters divided by five, per minute. Accuracy is correct keystrokes over total keystrokes. Consistency comes from how much your per-second speed wobbles. Those formulas are written out on the typing metrics page and they are the same whichever list is loaded, which is the point: your German run and your English run are measured by one ruler.
Identical measurement is not the same as identical difficulty, though. Languages with longer average words, or with characters your layout hides behind a modifier, produce a lower number for the same skill. That is a fact about keyboards and vocabulary, not about you. Track your speed in one language over time and use what is a good WPM as a rough map rather than a verdict.

The language selector sits in the control bar on the main test, so you can switch lists without leaving the page. The dedicated pages above exist because they preset the language for you and explain the keyboard side, which the selector cannot do.
Questions people ask
How many languages can I take the typing test in?
64, and they are all listed on this page. Each one has its own word list, so the words on screen are ordinary words in that language rather than English text run through a translator. The smallest list holds 214 common words, and every list has an extended set behind it, for 36,022 words in total across all 64.
Do I need a special keyboard to type these languages?
It depends on the script. Most of the Latin script languages only add a handful of accented characters, which a matching layout puts on single keys and a US international layout can also reach. Russian needs a Cyrillic layout installed, and Hindi needs a Devanagari layout such as InScript or Google Input Tools. The test never remaps your keyboard: it reads the characters your system actually sends, so whichever layout you have active is the one being measured.
Are WPM scores comparable between languages?
The formula is identical everywhere: WPM is correct characters divided by five, per minute, and accuracy is correct keystrokes over total keystrokes. So the number is built the same way in Polish as in English. Difficulty is not identical though, because average word length, accented characters and scripts that need extra keystrokes all push a score around.
